Reopening Guidelines: Client Responsibilities
This is part one of a three part series.
As personal services, nail salons are included in Phase 2 of Washington state’s reopening plans. While it is still unclear when King County will move to Phase 2, we want our clients to be prepared. To help everyone understand what they can expect, I’m posting this Reopening series. In this post, I will cover the state mandated guidelines as they directly affect client behavior. In future posts, I will cover salon responsibilities, as well as our salon’s additional guidelines. While most of the guidelines address salon protocols and employee and owner responsibilities and rights, there are also some client specific pieces. In order for our clients to be prepared, I wanted to share those here, as clearly as possible.
When you are preparing to go to your appointment:
Self screen before leaving for appointment for COVID symptoms, including fever (via thermometer), cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle aches, new loss of sense of smell.
Call to reschedule if you are ill. There will be no cancellation charge for appointments that are canceled prior to start time. Appointments that are not canceled, and become no-shows, will be charged.
Bring a cloth face covering. You will be required to put it on before entering the building.
Know that we cannot allow any additional people in the salon. If you need assistance to get to and from your appointment, we will of course allow your helper to do that. Anyone assisting will need to comply with the same guidelines as clients. They will not be able to wait in the salon.
When you arrive to the building:
Ensure your cloth face covering is on. It must cover your nose and mouth throughout your appointment.
Enter through the front door. If it is after six on weekdays or any time on weekends, text us as you are nearing the building, and we will come down to let you in.
Text to let us know you have arrived, and we will bring you up from the lobby following screening.
We will screen you before your service for COVID symptoms: fever (via touch-less thermometer), cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle aches, new loss of sense of smell.
When you are in the salon:
Maintain 6’ distance from others in salon unless during service.
Clients must wash hands for a minimum of 20 seconds, following proper hand washing techniques, before starting any service.
Clients must wear a cape/gown throughout services
Payment should be with credit or debit card if at all possible
So, those are client responsibilities. Stay tuned for what to expect from the salon!
